ICP Analyst

Founded in 1980, SCP SCIENCE is a successful privately owned manufacturer and distributor of analytical equipment, supplies, reagents and certified reference materials for the inorganic analytical laboratories market.
The company has grown substantially in recent years through internal and contracted manufacturing, acquisition, and expansion of its sales distribution network around the world.
SCP SCIENCE is currently seeking a professional with post-secondary chemistry education and ICP experience to take on the role of ICP Analyst. The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for analyzing with precision a wide variety of manufactured products, including NIST traceable standards.

Main duties:
• In-process and final product analysis using ICP-AES and IC according to established methods;
• Interpretation and submittal of data to allow product release and certification;
• Calculation of measurement uncertainty using predefined templates;
• Documentation of nonconformance’s, investigation of causes and recommendation for correction and corrective action;
• Set-up, maintenance and trouble shooting of IC and ICP instrumentation;
• Additional responsibilities according to competence, education, work experience and departmental needs.


Essential skills and knowledge
• Minimum University degree in Chemistry or related field;
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with ICP-AES, experience with IC an asset;
• Experience in an ISO 9001 environment a must, experience in an ISO 17025 accredited lab an asset;
• Strong data-analysis skills and basic understanding of statistical analysis;
• Must be detail-oriented, with uncompromising approach to quality;
• Strong technical skills: able to diagnose and rectify problems or potential problems with analytical instruments;
• Strong work ethic, motivated by customer satisfaction;
• Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

Canadian Life Science is currently seeking a Sales Representative based out of our Burnaby office, responsible for sales in Alberta and British Columbia.

The successful candidate should be interested in a long-term career within a professional working environment and will be responsible for expanding the company’s client base and contribute substantially to the incremental growth of sales.

Main duties:
Maintain an existing territory by supporting customers via regular  territory visits, therefore a desire to travel is a must.
Determine customer needs and identify appropriate products to meet those needs
Actively seek and pursue new customers
Generate new leads and follow up properly to generate new business

Timely follow-up
Ensure top customer service as the customer advocate for the territory
Answer customer inquiries and provide information on products
Maintain prospect and client CRM system
Attend trade shows, exhibits, sales meetings, conferences, as required
Continuously upgrade knowledge of products, customers, sales techniques
Share market intelligence with the rest of the sales team

Essential skills and knowledge:
Chemistry degree or equivalent
At least 2 years work experience in a similar position
English is essential; an additional language would be an asset

Organized, enthusiastic, able to prioritize and deliver results
Able to find creative solutions to client’s problems
Able to work independently, as well as in a team environment

Title: Production Manager
 Location: Microbiology Canada, Ottawa  
Dept.:Manufacturing                                                

Position Summary:
The manager is responsible for the organization and coordination of all manufacturing processes associated with the production of units assigned to their areas of responsibilities.  The manager should provide for opportunities for the motivation of employees towards self-improvement, increased productivity and enhanced product quality.  

Job Functions:

  • Review and development of necessary processes, procedures and SOPs.
  • Provide staff with tools, equipment and resources necessary to complete work to provide quality product
  • Resource for SAP processes for all planning, materials set up and maintenance.
  • Administer all activities, products and personnel associated with the production department assigned, including the supporting thermal processing areas.
  • Administer all activities, products and personnel associated with the products produced in their areas of responsibilities.
  • Administer company policies and procedures relating to personnel matters by organizing and supervising staff members.
  • Cooperate with other departments and/or shifts to promote efficiencies and maintain or improve quantity and quality of production.
  • Perform employee evaluations and recommend salary adjustments.
  • Administer production flow on a daily basis to meet established time
  • Investigate production problems for possible causes and assist personnel in finding solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Investigate issues of non-conformance and develop and institute effective corrective action.
  • Monitor efficiency and suggest equipment, adjustments, repairs and modifications to control defective products.
  • Monitor the physical condition of the work environment for safety and ergonomic correctness.
  • Direct and organize activities associated with assigned raw material inventories and assist materials handling with requisitions for appropriate components.
  • Delegate to assigned employees additional responsibilities to cover the work load during absences.
  • Create and maintain a safe work environment
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • The successful candidate will ideally have a post-secondary education in Science with a focus on Microbiology, Biology or a related field or equivalent experience, or a minimum of five to seven years of senior level manufacturing experience
  • Skills and experience in production management, process control, quality systems (ISO9001 and ISO 13485) are highly desirable.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite and SAP.
  • Strong organizational skills and a willingness to work in a fast paced environment is essential

Title: National Sales Manager
Reports to: General Manager
Division: Instruments Division
Location: Mississauga

Responsibility Overview:

The National Sales Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Instrument Division sales and marketing policies for all product lines and for all territories to achieve divisional sales targets within company policy. The position reports to the General Manager.

Responsibilities in detail:

He/She will oversee the sales force across the country and establish regional and national sales targets and marketing programs. Provide strong management and leadership skills and handle the full range of management issues relating to the recruitment, training, development, employee relations, planning and organization of a professional, service-oriented, customer-focused sales team.

• Establishes individual territory yearly and monthly sales targets and assists representatives in achieving their individual sales targets.
• Formulate marketing programs for specific product groups and markets.
• Provides sales support to divisional representatives and customers including OEM and dealer accounts.
• Attends major exhibitions to provide support and assess the division competitive position.
• Obtains product information on potential peripheral equipment that may be considered for divisional sales.
• Establishes and maintains reporting procedures for sales representatives.
• Conduct sales representative annual performance reviews and oversee programs for representative development.
• Performs other duties as requested by the General Manager.

Essential Knowledge:

• A B.Sc. graduate with extensive business or scientific equipment sales experience.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Proficient in advanced data analysis using Excel and/or ERP packages as well as full function CRM applications.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Exceptional organizational skills.
• Ability to learn, assess and apply new technologies.
• Ability to travel.

Working Conditions

• Works in a climate controlled office and/or showroom environment using computers and general office equipment.
• Field work
